How long will therapy take?
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or have a heightened sense of pressure to maintain your responsibilities, relationships, and friends? The pressures of modern life take a toll on your mental health.
Sometimes, these pressures manifest as anxiety and/or depression. These conditions show up as fatigue, a lack of motivation, or avoidance. Or you push yourself in the other direction, over-achieving, holding yourself to impossible standards and a chronically busy schedule.
If you're looking to learn new skills to help regulate your nervous system, challenge your reactions, and process thoughts and feelings in a welcoming space, therapy may be a good fit
I work with people experiencing a variety of challenges including grief, burnout, anxiety, self-esteem, and confidence. My work supports people who want to learn how to be more gentle with themselves who are looking to learn and integrate skills to manage and regulate challenging feelings and thoughts.
Areas of focus:
The duration of therapy greatly depends on your needs, goals and capacity. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. I understand that time, emotional capacity, and finances can influence the decisions you make, and we’ll work together to craft a plan for your care, taking these factors into account.
Some clients find 8-12 sessions enough to address concerns, whereas others prefer a longer-term approach. Many people notice improvement within the first 3-5 sessions.

What can I expect from an initial consultation?
Privacy and trust are cornerstones of therapy. What is said within the session remains between your and your practitioner with very few exceptions. Exceptions to confidentiality are rare but can occur if you are a danger to yourself or someone else or if records are suspended by the court.
A practitioner may be required to make a mandatory report if a client reports abuse of an elder or minor is occurring, or if a member discloses that a healthcare practitioner has committed an act of professional or sexual misconduct.
Confidentiality and its limits as well as mandatory reports will be discussed in your initial assessment with more details. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have around confidentiality before or during your first appointment.
Appointments are available online or by telephone.
This is a free 20-minute consult that allows you to get to meet and connect with me. While this is technically the first step in the therapeutic process, this first meeting is not therapy. Consider this a meet and greet where you are given the opportunity to connect and determine if the fit is right for you. Meeting a new therapist can be nerve-wracking, but I hope to create a comfortable experience.
This is an opportunity to learn a bit about me and my approach. You will be invited to share why you are seeking therapy now and what goals you have for this process. Clients are also encouraged and welcome to ask any questions they may have about the process.

Do I have to book an initial consultation?
Will my insurance cover my sessions?
An initial appointment is the beginning of the therapeutic process. This appointment is a structured assessment, an opportunity for the therapist to explore more of your personal history, your family background and the challenges that have brought you in.
You will be asked questions about your previous experience with therapy and what has and has not worked for you previously. Additionally, I will ask what your current goals are and what you are looking to get out of therapy now. You are always welcome and encouraged to ask questions as you engage in this process.
Because of the content covered in the initial appointment, this appointment is slightly longer and more directive than subsequent sessions.
An initial consultation is not required before your initial appointment. Consultations are offered as an opportunity to determine if I'm a good fit for you and your needs.
