I work with people who want to learn how to be more gentle with themselves.

Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or a heightened sense of pressure to maintain your responsibilities, relationships, and friends can take a toll on your mental health.Sometimes, this feels like anxiety and/or depression, which often manifest as fatigue, a lack of motivation, or avoidance.Or you push yourself in the other direction, over-achieving, holding yourself to impossible standards and a chronically busy schedule.
I create an open, non-judgemental space where people can work through their struggles and develop tools that will help positively shape their experience in the world at large.

About Megan

My name is Megan, and I’m a registered psychotherapist (qualifying).

I’m passionate about mental health, and I enjoy sharing this passion with clients in a safe, empowering, genuine way. I believe that the client is the best authority on their life, and my job is to help you navigate your own path through self-discovery and healing.I’ve worked in the wellness field my whole life. Starting in 2007 as a massage practitioner in British Columbia, I continued my education through the early 2010s, moving across the country to Kitchener, Ontario, where I now reside.

Over the following years, I became a registered massage therapist and a 500-hour yoga teacher, and in 2023 I completed my Master's degree in Counseling and Psychotherapy with distinction from Yorkville University. The current era of my career is focused on better understanding the tools and science behind nervous system regulation and cultivating a connection between body and mind. While I pride myself on being professional, I am a human first. I have had my own struggles with the effect of life’s challenges and transitions on my mental health. In my late 20s, an important romantic relationship ended, which led to a major cross-country move and a commitment to self-discovery. I was also diagnosed with ADHD in my late 30s, which required me to learn new self-regulation and coping skills.Additionally, I have experienced the grief and loss of providing palliative care to family members. I share this to help you understand that I, too, have lived experiences of incredible change, challenge, and bereavement. I believe these experiences add to my empathic abilities, and my own personal journey is one of the reasons I decided to become a therapist.Outside of work, I enjoy spending time going on walks in the forest with my dog, Leia. Movement has always been a part of my life, and I enjoy running, yoga, strength training, and biking. I also love to travel, exploring new places and experiences with my spouse.

If you're looking to learn new skills to help regulate your nervous system, challenge your reactions, and process thoughts and feelings in a welcoming space, therapy may be a good fit.

The duration of therapy greatly depends on your needs, goals and capacity. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. I understand that time, emotional capacity, and finances can influence the decisions you make, and we’ll work together to craft a plan for your care, taking these factors into account.

Some clients find 8-12 sessions enough to address concerns, whereas others prefer a longer-term approach. Many people notice improvement within the first 3-5 sessions.

Privacy and trust are cornerstones of therapy. What is said within the session remains between your and your practitioner with very few exceptions. Exceptions to confidentiality are rare but can occur if you are a danger to yourself or someone else or if records are suspended by the court.

A practitioner may be required to make a mandatory report if a client reports abuse of an elder or minor is occurring, or if a member discloses that a healthcare practitioner has committed an act of professional or sexual misconduct.

Confidentiality and its limits as well as mandatory reports will be discussed in your initial assessment with more details. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have around confidentiality before or during your first appointment.

This is a free 20-minute consult that allows you to get to meet and connect with me. While this is technically the first step in the therapeutic process, this first meeting is not therapy. Consider this a meet and greet where you are given the opportunity to connect and determine if the fit is right for you. Meeting a new therapist can be nerve-wracking, but I hope to create a comfortable experience.

This is an opportunity to learn a bit about me and my approach. You will be invited to share why you are seeking therapy now and what goals you have for this process. Clients are also encouraged and welcome to ask any questions they may have about the process.

An initial appointment is the beginning of the therapeutic process. This appointment is a structured assessment, an opportunity for the therapist to explore more of your personal history, your family background and the challenges that have brought you in.

You will be asked questions about your previous experience with therapy and what has and has not worked for you previously. Additionally, I will ask what your current goals are and what you are looking to get out of therapy now. You are always welcome and encouraged to ask questions as you engage in this process.

Because of the content covered in the initial appointment, this appointment is slightly longer and more directive than subsequent sessions.

An initial consultation is not required before your initial appointment. Consultations are offered as an opportunity to determine if I'm a good fit for you and your needs.

Many individual insurance plans cover sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist like me. Some insurance providers require a referral but many do not. Every employer's plan differs in what credentials are covered, the coverage amounts, and whether that amount is paid out in full or in a percentage of each session. Please contact your provider directly to determine the details of your plan.

Receipts are provided upon payment at the start of each session. These will be emailed to you directly to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Direct billing is not yet available for Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario.

I require a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to your appointment time to cancel. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours will be subject to a full charge.

To cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours prior you may do so online on your booking profile or by email.

For cancellations within 24 hours please email us as soon as possible.

To get started you can book an initial consultation. This is a free 20-minute consult that where you meet and connect with me. Or you can book an initial assessment to get started right away.

As per professional record-keeping standards, all client information is kept confidential, and your records are maintained accurately within your client profile.

After six months without sessions, your file will become inactive, but your complete file will be maintained for ten years from your last session. You are welcome to reactivate your account at any time and request services again. Please note availability will depend on current capacity.

You have the right to request copies of your record at any time. If you wish to disclose your clinical record to a third party, such as insurance, then a disclosure consent can be requested.

Registered psychotherapists are restricted to providing services, including paperwork, within our scope of practice.

The limitations of our scope of practice preclude our ability to fulfil most third-party paperwork requests satisfactorily. Due to the sensitive nature of session content, I do not provide session summaries. Clients are encouraged to take their own notes during the session.

Common examples of records we can provide include a client record of attendance. A letter of support may be collaboratively created between client and practitioner and include relevant clinical assessments, client advocacy and recommendations. Letters of support require an established clinical rapport and an ongoing collaborative treatment plan and are provided at clinician's discretion.
